Filmmaker Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee with Karan remains in the headlines and controversies every year for different reasons. However, due to controversies, celebs are now afraid to speak openly on the show. This is the reason why Karan Johar is not bringing the 9th season of Koffee with Karan this year. Karan has called the rapid fire round of the 8th season the most boring rapid fire in the history of the show and said that he will bring the show in a new way, for which he is taking a one-year break. Karan believes that to avoid controversies, celebs are not answering as freely as they used to earlier.
Recently, YouTuber Suchitra Tyagi talked to Karan Johar about the next season of Coffee with Karan during an interview. When he was asked when the next season will come, he said that he will not bring the show this year. He will take a year’s break and will return in a new way in 2025.
In the 8th season of Coffee with Karan, celebs like Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Ori, Ananya Pandey and Sara came as guests.
On the boring rapid fire of the last season, he said, I am slowly starting to feel that people are holding on to themselves. Every celebrity is afraid of PR nightmares. They are very scared that they don’t know what will be the reaction of the people if they say something. So I think this should not be done with those celebrities. I now want to make the show full of gossip and talks.
Further Karan has said, I want to make the show real, now people are being very candid. I have also stopped asking ranking questions in the show, because I feel that now these are not right. This was fine only till a time. People get angry. They get angry with me, the guest. The audience and the fan club want to beat you up. Everyone starts following you.
Karan has further reacted to him being made fun of in a reality show. He has said, the show should be made with good humour. I don’t think people are ready for good humour. People become very touchy and sensitive. I am in this industry, people have made fun of me too. Recently a reality show has made fun of me badly and I have also written about that. They have insulted me and those who are laughing after seeing it should remember that I have been in this industry for 30 years. I have worked hard to reach this position. I don’t do this in my show, I just talk.
Now I will not hold sensational and controversial rapid fire rounds- Karan
Speaking on Koffee with Karan 9, Karan said, “This time I will definitely make the show more conversational. I will not have sensational and controversial rapid fire, because people don’t give the right answers anyway. I would like to say that the 8th season of Koffee with Karan was the most boring rapid fire round in the history of the show. I was just wondering why am I doing this. You are not even giving me questions. Should we remove the rapid fire round and should I take the hamper home, because no one really deserves it. Now I feel that the world of Koffee with Karan needs to change. The 9th season will be fun and conversational, in which the celebs will not hesitate.
Karan’s revelation- Celebs’ team gets their footage deleted
Karan Johar has told in the conversation that nowadays celebs come with their PR, publicist, manager and the whole team. They watch the monitor. Karan constantly receives long messages from them, in which they keep demanding to delete something or the other from the show.
On this he said, everyone is very scared. I will not blame them. People are afraid to speak freely, but this did not happen earlier. Sometimes I myself get scared after watching my old seasons that how did I ask such a controversial question. Now at the age of 52 and after spending 30 years in the industry, I want peace. I want Coffee with Karan to be fun and not controversial.
