Veteran actor Sanjeev Kumar was born on 9 July 1938. The actor changed his name to enter the movies. His real name was Harihar Jethalal Jariwala. Despite mesmerizing the audience with his versatile acting, he was known as a character artist. He played the roles of both grandfather and father at a young age. His own life was tragic and quite short. Sanjeev Kumar saw the pain of losing people close to him at a young age. After this, his own life was not easy and he said goodbye to the world before the age of fifty. He died on 06 November 1985 at the young age of 47. Today, on the occasion of the actor’s birth anniversary, let’s look at some interesting aspects of his life.

Fell in love many times but did not get married

Apart from his brilliant career, Sanjeev Kumar’s personal life also attracted attention. The character of Thakur played by him in the film ‘Sholay’ is still in the memories of the audience. However, his own love story remained incomplete during the making of this film. It is believed that Sanjeev Kumar was very much in love with Hema Malini. Yet during Sholay, Hema Malini and Dharmendra’s romance blossomed, leaving Sanjeev Kumar’s love incomplete. It is said that he was heartbroken due to this experience, but both remained good friends. Sanjeev Kumar’s name was also linked to Saira Bano, Nutan and later Shabana Azmi, but despite this Sanjeev Kumar never married and remained a bachelor throughout his life. Many people say that he has not found true love, due to which he remained unhappy and did not marry, but there are many experts who say that the actor did not marry due to a prophecy.

Sanjeev said goodbye to the world at the age of 47

In fact, Sanjeev Kumar decided not to get married due to the belief that he would not live beyond the age of fifty. Sadly, this prediction came true and he passed away at the young age of 47. It is worth noting that his untimely death was surprising, as there was a series of sudden deaths in his family, including his grandfather, father and brother. Despite his ability to play grandfather and father at a young age on screen, in real life he did not get a chance to reach the age of 50 and not just grandfather, he could not even become a father and husband in real life.

Deaths kept occurring in Sanjeev’s family before he turned 50

Sanjeev Kumar’s unfortunate predictions proved true when he passed away in 1985 after suffering a heart attack at the age of around 47. Information shared by Hanif Zaveri in his book ‘An Actor’s Actor: The Authorised Biography of Sanjeev Kumar’ sheds light on a shocking pattern in his family history. Sanjeev Kumar’s grandfathers Shivlal Jariwala and Jethalal Jariwala, as well as his brothers Kishore Jariwala and Nikul Jariwala, all tragically passed away before reaching the age of 50 and remarkably, all of them died due to heart attacks.
