Veteran Bollywood actor Amrish Puri has been the most popular and dreaded villain in the history of Hindi cinema. Amrish Puri was born on 22 June 1932. He started his career in 1971 with ‘Reshma Aur Shera’. Bollywood’s Mogambo needs no introduction, children as well as the elderly liked him. Anil Kapoor and Sridevi’s character of Mogambo in the film ‘Mr. India’ has made a special place in the hearts of the audience which no one can replace. Famous actor Amrish Puri, who played roles ranging from hero to villain, made his debut in 1967 with the Marathi film ‘Shantatu Court Chalu Ahe’. He made his Bollywood debut in 1971 with ‘Reshma Aur Shera’. Veteran actor Amrish Puri not only won the hearts of the audience with his every character but also created history with many of his characters. After doing about 50 plays, this talented actor entered the world of films. Let us tell you that in his 30-year career on screen, he did more than 400 films. Amrish Puri is still included in the list of best and most expensive villains of Hindi cinema.

Rejected the film after not getting the demanded fees

Famous villain of the past, Amrish Puri used to leave films if he did not get his desired fees. In a 1998 interview, the veteran actor had revealed that he had left a film of N.N. Sippy only because his demand regarding fees was not met and he was refused to pay Rs. 80 lakhs. He was very serious about his fees. He used to say that when I do not compromise with my work on screen, then why should I compromise with my fees.

Died at the age of 72

Amrish Puri is known for his iconic characters in films like ‘Mr. India’, ‘Tahalka’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’. Let us tell you that on 12 January 2005, Amrish Puri said goodbye to this world at the age of 72.
