What is the story of the film ‘Kakuda’?

The story of the film is about a village named ‘Ratouri’ where every house has two doors for the last 50 years. The first is the main door which is used by the common people and the second door is much smaller than the first one which has to be opened every Tuesday evening at 7.15 pm and one has to sit at the gate. The house whose door is found closed is hit by ‘Kakuda’ and a big hump appears on the back of the man of that house. Within 13 days of the hump appearing, that person dies. The people of the village have become so used to all this that as soon as a hump appears on the back, people start preparing for the funeral and thirteenth day rituals of that person.

For which one has to wait by opening the small door of the house.

Sunny, his friend Kilvish (Asif Khan) and Indu decide that on the day of the wedding, Sunny will give his father the responsibility of sitting by opening the door so that the curse of ‘Kakuda’ can be avoided and the wedding can also take place on the auspicious day. But the twist in the story comes when Sunny finds out that his father is going on a pilgrimage. On Indu’s pressure, Sunny takes a risk and goes to another village for the wedding. Now Indu decides to take the help of a ghost hunter named Victor (Riteish Deshmukh) whom she meets in the same hospital where Sunny is being treated. Will Victor and Indu be able to save Sunny together? If yes, then how? And who is this Kakuda who is giving such a painful death to the family members? What is the story of this ghost named Kakuda? You will get the answers to these questions in the film.

What are the positive points of the film?

The film has been shot at amazing locations and the background music is superb. Director Aditya Sarpotdar’s experience of horror comedy films is clearly visible and he has beautifully balanced the emotions of fear and comedy. Jumpscare scenes have not been forced and where they have been added, they seem completely justified. VFX has been used sparingly but accurately in the film. All the actors including Sonakshi Sinha, Riteish Deshmukh and Saqib Saleem have done their work well. There are only a few songs in the film but they give a soothing feel in the midst of the intense story. Overall, ‘Kakuda’ is an amazing theatre material movie which you can enjoy with the whole family.

What are the negative points of the film?

Aditya Sarpotdar has left no stone unturned to point out some negative points in the film but following the current trend, at the end of the film, there is a scope left for the next part. The first part has been quite strong but will the story in the second part be as strong? The answers to some questions related to the story in the film may remain stuck in the mind but most of the curiosities are satisfied by the end. There is a possibility that the makers have saved some things for the next part.
